Indiana Northwest didn't allow a winter snow storm and long track to Clinton, Indiana to affect their focus and performance in a decisive 92-68 win over St. Mary of the Woods College. IUN used effective defensive pressure throughout the game to keep the Pomeroys off balance forcing 28 turnovers that led to several transition opportunities. The RedHawk attack was able to take advantage of mismatches in the paint that also open up the perimeter as IUN shot 46% from the floor (38-82), 40% from long distance (4-10) and 80% (8-10) from the line. The RedHawks assisted on 21 of their made field goals against. The victory was IUN's ninth consecutive win, and 11th in their last 13 as they improved to 12-10 overall.

Senior forward, Sharon Houston led four RedHawks in double figures with 35 points on a blistering 17-25 from the field. Houston added 10 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 blocks, and 2 steals in a dominant performance. Sophomore guard, Annmarie Keller paced the RedHawk perimeter attack with 13 points, 3 assists and 3 steals. IUN guards Juliette Keller and Brianne Wischman both added 10 points with Keller leading IUN with 6 assists.

As a team the IUN defense registered 18 steals on the afternoon. "St. Mary's is a very good shooting and perimeter oriented team that presented a challenge matching up with defensively. I felt that our defensive pressure did a great job of not allowing them to settle into a rhythm offensively and created some transition opportunities for us," said IUN Head Coach Ryan Shelton. "Houston (Sharon) had a big game and we did a good job of getting her the ball and having a balanced attack, DeWell (Brittany), Hickenbottom (Paige) and Michalski (Ashley) were all keys to our defense today and did a great job," added Shelton. Michalski filled up the box score again with 6 points, 5 rebounds, 3 blocks and 4 steals.

The RedHawks winning streak matches the 9 game streak from the 2008-2009 team, good for second longest in school history. They will look to push it to double digits when they host Andrews University this Tuesday, Jan. 24 at 5:30 p.m. as part of IU Northwest's Annual Homecoming Celebration featuring a men's and women's doubleheader and food, fun, contests and prizes.
