Rosenbaum Leads Four RedHawks in Double Figures

Indiana Northwest's Annual Homecoming Celebration and doubleheader started off on the right foot as the RedHawks Women jumped out to a 12-0 advantage over the visiting Andrews Cardinals and never looked back cruising to a 75-33 victory. The RedHawks defensive pressure and transition game were sharp as they forced several first half miscues leading to several transition opportunities and a 48-17 halftime advantage. IU Northwest shot a blistering 53% from the floor in the first 20 minutes as a balanced RedHawk resulted in four players in double figures led by freshman forward Michelle Rosenbaum's 14 points (5-7 fg) in just 13 minutes of play. RedHawk guards Juliette and Annmarie Keller both tallied 12 points , 2 rebounds and 2 assists in 19 minutes, while freshman forward Paige Hickenbottom also ended up in double digits with 10 points. The win improved IU Northwest to 13-10 on the season and was their 10th straight win. IUN hasn't lost since way back on Dec. 17 when they lost in overtime 70-67 at Cornerstone.

The RedHawks defense limited Andrews to just 23% shooting on the evening and forced 31 Cardinal turnovers with IUN outrebounding their opponent 75-33. RedHawk freshmen point guards were catalysts as Kelly Gross had 6 steals to go along with 4 points and 3 assists, while Brittany Dewell was on point with 4 points, 5 assists and a theft. Senior forward Sharon Houston did most of her damage in the first half and ended with 8 points , 8 rebounds and 5 blocks in 18 minutes of action. Freshman post, Ashley Parish filled up the box score with 4 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists, a block and a steal in 14 minutes. "Homecoming is always a fun night for the entire campus. It was good to see the team start fast with a good team effort with all of our kids getting an opportunity to play in front of a big home crowd," said IUN Head Coach Ryan Shelton.

The current RedHawk 10-game winning streak now ranks second all-time in school history passing the 2008-2009 team (9 games). They will look to equal the school record of 11 games this Thursday when they visit Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, Illinois as part of a women's and men's double header beginning at 5:00 p.m. CST.
