RedHawks score school-record 105 points in home victory.

The Lady RedHawks used a balanced scoring attack and sharp transition game en route to scoring a school record 105 points in a 62-point home victory over visiting the Mount Mary College Blue Angels (NCAA III, Milwaukee, WI). Sharon Houston led five RedHawks in double figures with 26 points, 14 rebounds and 4 blocks. Juliette Keller (18), Ish Shah Terry (13), Erica Baran (12) and Kymberli Daniels (10) all reached double figures. Baran's and Daniels' point totals established season highs.

The RedHawks used a full court press early on to race out to a 11-0 start and had increased the lead to 21-2 early in the first half. The RedHawks were able to score easy baskets in transition as well as dissect the Blue Angel zone defense to hold a 53-15 lead at the half. Houston connected on 10-12 field goals and all 6 free-throw attempts in a near-perfect night of shooting. As a team the RedHawks connected on 57% of their field goals during the contest, often getting good looks from point guards Nina Wills (6 assists) and Megan Leal (4 assists) who were able to find open teammates throughout the evening. 

When asked for comment on the RedHawks' performance, Head Coach Ryan Shelton said, "The coaching staff has been encouraging stronger team-play over the past few weeks, it seems over the past 3 games we have really made some progress and tonight's game was a clear indication what were capable of when we play well together." "We haven't played many home games to this point, being home felt good and should provide us some confidence heading into a portion of our schedule where we will be at home quite a bit." The 105 points was the Lady RedHawks highest point total since February 13, 2009 when they poster 100 points vs. Kuyper College. The victory once again moved the RedHawks' record above .500 at (6-5). 

The Lady RedHawks return to action next week following final exams in a home contest with Trinity Christian College Friday, December 18, 2009 7pm at the IU Northwest Savannah Center.
