The Lady Redhawks raced out to a 15-0 lead in the first five minutes and controlled the game en route to a 77-63 road victory over Mount Mary College (NCAA III, Milwaukee, WI). It was the second game in two days for IU Northwest who lost the previous night to Wisconsin-Parkside (NCAA II) in an exhibition contest. The RedHawks defense and transition game were sharp in the first half and headed into the half with a healthy 40-20 lead. The visiting RedHawks defense though did not feature the same intensity in the second half as they had trouble containing Mount Mary's Jordan Olsey as she scorched IU Northwest for 37 points.

Sharon Houston led IU Northwest with 26 points, 14 rebounds and 4 blocks in just 23 minutes of action. Juliette Keller, Ish Shah Terry and Nina Wills all contributed strong performances in the win. Keller netted 18 points on 5-6 three-point attempts, dished out 4 assists and had 5 thefts in just 21 min. Terry chipped in 15 points and 6 rebounds (17 min.), and point guard Wills dished out 9 assists and grabbed 6 rebounds. For the game, IU Northwest shot 45.3% from the floor, 62% from 3-pt range and 58.3% from the free-throw line. IU Northwest improved to 8-6 on the season.

The RedHawks return to action this Saturday, Jan. 2, 2010 in a home contest with Judson University. IU Northwest was defeated by Judson 68-60 in the Championship game of the Judson Tournament on Nov. 21. The game will begin at 6 p.m. at the IU Northwest Savannah Center.
