Justine is in her first season with the Lady RedHawks. She graduated from Calumet High School and was one of the most important players on the Warriors' roster. Coach Ryan Shelton said that she "brings mental and physical toughness to the team." This week, she's our featured WBB player.

Where'd you grow up?
I was born in Germany. Then, when I was two, we moved to Indiana where I lived until I was ten. Then I moved to Tennessee till I was about 14, and me and my family moved back to Indiana.

When did you start playing sports?

I started playing tee ball when I lived here around the age of 8 and moved up to slow pitch softball before I moved to Tennessee. I played fast pitch softball there and started basketball in the 4th grade and played every year up till now. My sophomore year of high school I played softball for the school till I graduated, and my junior and senior year I also played volleyball.

What separates basketball from other sports?

Basketball is a fast paced sport compared to the other two I've played. It's a lot more exciting to me.

What makes a great basketball team?

I think what makes a great team is how the teammates get alongwith each otherand the coaching staff.

Do the Lady RedHawks have that this year?

We are working on that.

What was your personal highlight this season?

The Purdue Calumet game was definitely my best played game, and it was a lot of fun even though we didn't come out with the win.

What's your major here at IUN?

Math teacher.

Why'd you choose that?

So I can coach basketball.

What do you plan to do with your degree after you graduate?

As soon as I graduate I don't plan to do much with my degree. I plan on going to OCS to train to become an officer and deploy for a couple of years. I don't think it would be fair for me to find a school to accept me and then take off on them

Do you have any hobbies?

Hobbies, as far as free time goes, I definitely like to play my Xbox.
