Sophomore Guard Scores Career-High 34, in 6th Straight Win

Finishing a long regular season on the road is never easy, especially when it's a four-game swing to close it out. The Lady RedHawks, however have been making themselves right at home, away from home. IU Northwest earned its 3rd straight road win and 6th straight defeating the Holy Cross Saints (Notre Dame, IN) 85-81.

Holy Cross just wouldn't go away thanks to hot perimeter shooting (15-35 3-pt fg), however sophomore guard Juliette Keller scorched Holy Cross for a career-high 34 points (5-8 3-pt fg, 11-14 ft) in leading the RedHawks to their 19th win of the season. Sophomore, all-american forward Sharon Houston was again a consistent force in the paint tallying 22 points, 14 rebounds and 6 blocks and combined with Keller, the tandem was too much for the Saints to overcome.

IU Northwest led 37-33 at the half thanks to Keller's 17 first half points (3-4, 3-pt fg) and Houston's 10 points and 9 rebounds. Despite Houston picking up a 3rd foul early in the 2nd half and missing several minutes in foul trouble, the Lady RedHawks widened their advantage to 17 points at 60-43. The Saints, however continued to hoist long-range bombs over the RedHawk zone connecting on 9-20 from three in the final 20 minutes to get to within 2, however that's as close as they would get. IU Northwest helped themselves at the line connecting 21-29 charity shots with Keller icing the game late with several key trips to the line. Megan Leal (5pts, 2ast, 1 to) played effectively at the point subbing for all-conference guard Nina Wills who was suffering from flu-like symptoms and was not able to play in the 2nd half.

"This was a big win for us, we want to have momentum heading into the post-season and a lot of people stepped-up big tonight. It seems that each time we face adversity with an injury or illness, someone is called on to perform in the clutch and we keep getting big performances. Juliette was huge tonight, Megan gave us great minutes and Ish was strong defensively, it was a great team effort" according to Head Coach Ryan Shelton. Sophomore forward Kym Daniels continued her strong play by adding 10 points and 4 rebounds, freshman center Ish Shah Terry dropped 4 points (2-3 fg) and hauled in 9 rebounds. IU Northwest shot 54% from the floor (29-54), 55% from three (6-11) and 72% from the line. The RedHawks close out the regular season in search of their 20th regular season win at Marygrove College (Detroit, MI) this Saturday, Feb. 20th at 4pm EST. IU Northwest will host the A.I.I. Conference Tournament Feb. 26-27 at the Savannah Center with game times and pairings TBA.
