Sophomore Aaron Osorio, forward for the RedHawksHaw, adds some much needed height to the RedHawks offense. At 6' 5" he can grab rebounds unlike anyone else on the team. Next season he'll likely be one of the strongest forces on the court. Check back tomorrow for our final men's profile.
Aaron Osorio: I started playing when I was really young, probably about five years old. My mom was really athletic in high school. I joined this thing called ‘youth groups.' That's how I began. She was actually my first coach, so that was pretty fun.
Do you have any favorite players?
AO: Well, obviously there's Michael Jordon. I have all the Michael Jordon clothes and everything. Currently, my favorite player is Tracy McGrady. He just got traded to the Knicks, so I have to live with that. [laughs]
AO: Teamwork, leadership, and structure. The coach is a good part of it, as long as he knows what he is doing. As long as everyone is on the same page and everyone wants to win, if they all have the same mentality, you'll have a good basketball team.
Yeah, we all hang out together. We did have some new freshman come in, but we included them in stuff that we did in and outside of school.
Our last game I think I had my season high in points. I know it was Pete's and Jesse's night, but I had to slip a few points in for next year.
My major is psychology and I just started on a teaching degree.
Probably psychology. I'm really good with computers, so maybe something with that. I'd really like to get my EMT license and then become a firefighter. I also do barbershop stuff. I'm a barber. I cut a lot of hair.
I play basketball. I love listening to music and hanging out with friends. The average 20 year old type of stuff.
I listen to a lot of rap music and R&B. I like all genres.
I'm definitely upset about that, but he did just drop an album so it should hold me over.
Try it out. Become friends with some of us, I'm sure we're easy to get along with. Don't give up on your dreams. In high school I didn't play much basketball because I got into a lot of altercations with my head coach. I started playing a lot of tournaments and I came here and started playing college basketball. Don't ever give up on what you want to do.
