Indiana University Northwest hoops stars Jesse Howell and Pete Trgovich III closed out their final season as RedHawks on a high note with a 117-108 victory over East-West University on Feb. 20. |
Howell finished the game with 36 points and six rebounds, while Trgovich had 41 points and five boards.
After the game, RedHawks head coach Pete Trgovich honored his two departing senior players. He presented Howell with a trophy game ball, noting that Howell had surpassed 1,000 points for his career at IU Northwest and set a new NAIA Division II record for free-throws in a game earlier this season.
"Now, every time someone looks in the record books for the NAIA, they will see IU Northwest there because of Jesse's accomplishment," Trgovich said.
As for his own son, Trgovich praised the young man's poise and leadership as a player. The younger Trgovich finished the season as the leading NAIA scorer with 27.9 points per game. He is the all-time leading scorer for IU Northwest.
"I could not be prouder of the way Pete showed leadership, and the manner in which he conducted himself during his career at IUN," the coach said. "Winning their last two games was a great way for Pete and Jesse to end their careers as RedHawks."
