The Indiana University Northwest Lady RedHawks basketball team will host the Association of Independent Institutions postseason tournament on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 26 and 27, in the Savannah Center Gymnasium. At stake will be a bid to the NAIA Division II Women's Basketball National Tournament. |
Friday's games begin at 4:30 p.m. with a contest between Johnson and Wales University - Denver and Ohio Dominican University. The Lady RedHawks (20-10) play the 6:30 p.m. nightcap against Mary Grove College out of Detroit, a team they have already beaten twice this season, including a 68-36 rout on the road last Saturday.
The winners of those two games will play the championship contest on Saturday beginning at 2:30 p.m. Should the Lady RedHawks win the tourney, they would qualify for the first-ever NAIA tournament bid in the university's history.
"It should be a great tournament," said Lady RedHawks head coach Ryan Shelton. "We have a great team, and we're looking forward to the opportunity, on our home floor, to reach the NAIA National Tournament."
