Sophomore Kym Daniels is very serious about basketball. She's also very serious about school. We sat down to chat about the basketball program, staying in school, and her recent engagement.
Kym Daniels: Hessville in Hammond.
KD: I started playing basketball when I was in fifth grade.
What's your favorite thing about basketball?
My favorite thing is the pure competition.
So far, the highlight was winning twenty games, something we've never done.
I hope so, but we have to get ready for the AII tournament.
My major is psychology.
I like the abnormal side of it. Different kinds of diseases.
[laughs] I got engaged last night to my boyfriend. He plays baseball for DeKalb.
In 2012 we're either going to do spring or summer wedding.
Coaching. I coach my littlest brother's basketball and volleyball team. In the summer I coach a youth program for softball.
I think I want to become a psychiatrist. I'd like to help people with mental diseases or talk to children.
I don't have a favorite, but I really like country.
Stay ahead in school. Keep up with your classes. That's the biggest change our team has to do coming out of high school.
