Men's Basketball - Tue, Feb. 28, 2017

The IU Northwest Men's basketball team headed into the conference tournament in Branson, Missouri coming off the first 20 win regular season in school history.

Friday night they faced off against the host team College of the Ozarks. The Bobcats were one of the hottest teams on their home floor this season and the RedHawks pulled out the victory 90-87. Senior guard Darrius Davis paced the RedHawks scoring 26 points while Rashad Richardson added 23 points in just 23 minutes of play. Senior forward Justin Pennington scored 16 points while pulling down 9 rebounds. Junior John Mosser had a big night posting another double double by scoring 12 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.

With this victory, the RedHawks advanced to play the #4 ranked team in the nation, Rochester College on Saturday in the semi-finals.

The matchup against Rochester was a back and forth battle. The RedHawks came to play and found themselves leading 54-51 at the half. Both teams fought hard the final 20 minutes of play but the Warriors pulled away with a 98-91 victory to end the RedHawks season.

This season was definitely one for the books. The RedHawks, under first year head coach Javier Heridia and first year assistant Eric Roldan, faced a slow start to the season starting 1-4. A huge win versus Asbury the #1 offense in the country seemed to be the turning point. IU Northwest went on to go 19-6 to end the regular season a school best 20-10. Key wins along the way were victories over Wilberforce University and NCAA DII Saint Joseph's College.

Seniors Darrius Davis (17ppg), JJ Pennington (16ppg) and Dylan Ramirez led the way on and off the court during this incredible season!

However, this is only the beginning. Key returners Rashaad Richardson (22ppg), John Mosser (9 ppg), Ronald Alexander (11ppg), and Jovan Jackson (12 ppg) look to improve on the successes of this season with their eyes set on a national tournament bid!

The RedHawks would like to thank you for all of the support this season and are looking forward to another great year next season!
