It was revealed who theIU Northwest Lady RedHawks' first round opponent will be when the 2010 NAIA Division II National Tournament Bracket wasannounced during the live selection show on Wednesday. TheRedHawks the #8 seed will square off with two-time national champion and #1 seed Northwestern College on Thursday, March 11, 2010 in Sioux City, IA at 1:45 p.m. central time.

IUNorthwest is making its first trip to the National Tournament in the program's history whileNorthwestern claimed the titles in 2001 and most recently in 2008. "This is a tremendous opportunity for our team and basketball program to face one of the elite programs in the country on the biggest stage. We wouldn't want it any other way and we're looking forward to the challenge" said head coach Ryan Shelton.IU Northwest received an automatic bid by claiming the 2010l Association of Independent Institutions Tournament with a 70-67 victory over Ohio Dominican. TheRedHawks are led byA.I.I. Conference Player of the Year, Sharon Houston. "Sharon is one of the finest players in the country,it willbe exciting to see her as well as the rest of our kids perform at the national tournament" added Shelton.

IUNorthwest heads into the national tournament with 22-10 overall record including 9 straight wins. The 22 wins is a new school record for victories in a season and the 9 straight wins matches a school record set in the 2008-2009 season.
