IU Northwest Alum also named Forward of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year and Import of the Year

Elazig, Turkey – Former IU Northwest women's basketball All-American Sharon Houston has been maned the 2017 TKBL Player of the Year in the Turkish Professional League while playing for Elazig. The 6'4" forward averaged 21.7 points, 16.2 rebounds and 2.25 blocks in route to being named a First-Team All-TKBL as well as being selected the Forward of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year and Import of the Year.

 

Houston was a four time NAIA All-American and Conference Player of the Year while playing for IU Northwest from 2008-2012 where she averaged 23.4 points, 14.5 rebounds and 4.2 blocks per game for her storied career. She still ranks first on the program's career scoring list with 2,784 points and is the RedHawks all-time leader in rebounds (1,722) and blocks (498).  Houston earned her B.S in Criminal Justice form IU Northwest and began her playing professional basketball overseas in 2012.
