Gary, IN - IU Northwest Volleyball welcomed a pair of CCAC Conference foes to the Savannah Center for just their second and third home matches of the season. The RedHawks weren't able to take advantage of being back on their home court as they suffered consecutive losses to the University St. Francis (IL) Saints on Thursday evening and then the following evening to the University of Roosevelt Lakers.

IU Northwest was defeated (20-25,11-25,24-25) by St. Francis. The RedHawks couldn't sustain a strong start in the first set. The second set was all Saints as IU Northwest was able to gain any momentum.  The Redhawks were competitive again int he third set jumping out to a 18-12 lead, however the Saints rallied to win the match in straight sets.

"It was tough results the last two matches. Saint Francis University-Joliet played well and pushed us to play. Unfortunately, we came to play in the third set and it was too late. They found ways to score and put the balls in places they needed to win," said IU Northwest Head Coach Dawn Barnes

The following night IU Northwest welcomed the Roosevelt Lakers to the Savannah Center in a rematch of their match from earlier this season that saw The RedHawks win in four sets. This time it was a different story as Roosevelt was in control from the beginning winning in straight sets (19-25,16-25,16-25).

"We didn't stick to the game plan. We lost the battle in setting, defense and attacking. We had opportunities to make plays but didn't execute or put our bodies in the right position to make plays. I was happy with our play in moments but it needs to be more consistent and we have to be able to sustain our energy level for the entire match," added Barnes.

With the losses the RedHawks well to 3-8 on the season and will look to rebound when they host another CCAC opponent, Governor State University on Thursday, Sept. 21 at 7 p.m. Match will be played and lived stream from the Savannah Center.
