Dan Soria enters his first year as the RedHawks Head Baseball Coach. Soria was an assistant coach for Indiana University Northwest during the spring of 2009 and finished the season as the programs interim head coach. During the summer of 2009 Soria help bring 19 new recruits to the baseball program.

 
In 2008 Soria returned to his alma mater Chicago State University (Division 1 NCAA Chicago, IL) were he was also the program pitching coach during the 2004 campaign. In 2008 as Chicago State's pitching coach Soria improved the pitching staffs ERA, walks and opposing bating average battling schools like Kansas, Creighton, and Notre Dame.
 
Prior to coaching at Chicago State in 2004, Soria was a starting pitcher for the Cougers in 2002 and 2003, in his two seasons at Chicago State Soria pitched over 130 innings and in 2003 ended the season in the Mid-Con Conference top ten for strikeouts.

After the 2003 season at Chicago State Soria played two years of professional baseball making the opening day roster for the Gary SouthShore RailCats in the Northern League. Soria was a starting pitcher for the RailCats and in his two seasons of pitching took over the franchise record in almost every pitching category including starts, innings pitched, strikeouts, and complete games. Soria also took part in the first professional baseball game played at the U.S. Steel yard home of the Gary SouthShore RailCats in May of 2003.

 
In the fall of 2004 Soria became the head baseball coach at Calumet College of Saint Joseph (Division 1 NAIA Whiting, IN) were he was the head coach for the next three seasons. After one year he lead the Crimson Wave to their best season in school history surpassing school records in wins, batting average, and helping the teams pitching staff to there lowest ERA.

In the summer of 2005 Coach Soria started an under 18 Babe Ruth baseball team in his hometown of East Chicago. The East Chicago Titans under the direction of Coach Soria started their inaugural season 12-0 and ended the season 32-8 with a trip to the Babe Ruth Regional Championship game in Cleveland Ohio.

 
Soria played his first two years of college baseball as a pitcher at South Suburban College (Division 1 NJCAA South Holland, IL). Soria at South Suburban College played for head coach Steve Ruzich, who has accumulated over 800 collegiate wins, including several reginal championships and two NJCAA national championship appearances.
 
Soria is a 1998 graduate of East Chicago Central High School, were he was a four-year starter on the varsity baseball team. Soria patrolled the outfield for the Cardinals while also making appearances on the mound. Soria also played four years of varsity football and soccer while at East Chicago Central High School.
 
Soria received an associate degree in science form South Suburban College in 2000, and a bachelor's degree in Physical Education with minors in fitness, coaching, and sport from Chicago State in 2003.

Soria also works in East Chicago, as a police officer with the rank of Master Patrolman. Coach Soria resides in Crown Point, IN with his wife Loretta and their daughter Isabella. Loretta Soria is the Woman's Basketball Associate Head Coach at Indiana University Northwest.

 

John Vode Image
John Vode - Assistant Coach - 1st Season

Coach Vode is a 1987 Hobart High Grad. He attended Indiana State, Purdue, IUN, Villanova, and Purdue Calumet.

 
He is currently employed as a mechanical engineer/ project manager.

Coach Vode also owns and operates The Swing Club - Baseball and Softball Training Facility, in Hobart, IN.

 
In addition to being a former High School and College student-athlete, Coach Vode has managed and coached for the past 18 years. He has developed 2 youth travel programs, with three teams each that fall within the age groups from 9 to 16. Coach Vode has recently developed a youth program designed around the Gary Southshore Railcats.
 
Coach Vode has given over 1500 hitting, pitching and fielding lessons. He has coached groups, teams and individuals from Little League to Pro Prospect. He has coached at camps at the Division 1 level.

Over the past 18 years Coach Vode has spent time with many youth, High School and College programs, in the form of managing, coaching, organizing and managing numerous camps and clinics for both baseball as well as football. I have spoken at coaching clinics, for private and public events, and numerous camps stressing fundamentals, teamwork, and the immeasurable benefits that one could achieve through athletics.

 
Coach Vode has been taught by some of the best in baseball. He trains under Florida Marlins Hitting Coordinator, John Mallee, Pitching Nation's (NPA) Trevor Stocking, and Special Asst. to the GM of the San Diego Padres, Bill Bryk. Finally, legendary hitting coach and scout Ralph Bufano.

This will be Coach Vode's third season with the Redhawks.

Bill Sojka - Assistant Coach - 1st Season
Coach Bill Sojka enters his first year at Indiana University Northwest. Bill will handle the stats and team management for the RedHawks Baseball Team. Coach Bill Sojka also brings years of coaching experience to the program: listed below are just a few of Coach Bill Sojka athletic involvements.
 
Coach Sojka currently resides in north section of Hammond, Indiana with Janice his wife of over 27 years.  Coach Sojka has one son who is also a coach on the Indiana University Northwest RedHawks Baseball staff. 
 
Coach Sojka is retired from the City of East Chicago where he worked for over 36 years.  He served East Chicago as the Superintendent of Buildings and Grounds for 10 years and then served as the Director of Community Recreation for 12 years where he brought in professional scouts for baseball try out camps.  Scouts from Pittsburgh Pirates, Cleveland Indians, Philadelphia Phillies, Minnesota Twins, Cincinnati Reds, San Diego Padres, and Triton College.

Mike Klaich Image
Mike Klaich - Recruiting Assistant - 1st Season

Mike Klaich enters his first season as the Redhawks Assistant Coach and recruiting coordinator. Coach Klaich has played an integral role in bringing in a very talented group of freshman to build a winning traditional at IUN.

 
Klaich joined the Redhawks after serving as the Assistant Coach and Hitting coordinator at Calumet College of St. Joseph during the 2006 and 2007 seasons. During his time with the Crimson Wave his hitters set new individual and team batting records. Two of his players (Jon Sojka, Eric Arcella) finished in the top ten in the nation in stolen bases per game and season total.

Prior to his stint at Calumet, Coach Klaich spent the 2003, 2004, and 2005 seasons at Bishop Noll Institute in Hammond Indiana. He was the Assistant coach on the 2004 State Championship team. Coach Klaich was proud to have two of his players (Brian Clark- Alabama, Andy Loomis- Purdue) play Division 1 baseball.

 
During the summer of 2002, Klaich was the Assistant coach of the Hammond Seminoles program that won the Babe Ruth and Mickey Mantle state titles respectfully. That year the Seminoles advanced to the Babe Ruth World Series in Russellville, Arkansas and finished third in the nation. During the 2003 summer season, Klaich had the responsabilites as the Hammond Chiefs pitching coach. The Chiefs had been successful in winning the Babe Ruth State title along with the Ohio Vally Regonal title. That year the World Series was held in Weimar, Texas where the Hammond Chiefs won the clubs first ever national title.
 
Coach Klaich has had three players drafted in the MLB entry draft. The Toronto Bluejays draftee Ryan Basham (Hammond Chiefs), the Florida Marlins draftee Andy Loomis (Hammond Chiefs, Bishop Noll), and the Philadelphia Phillies draftee Dan Faulkner (Bishop Noll).
 
Coach Klaich is a 1999 Graduate and former baseball player at Hammond High school in Hammond, Indiana. He attended Purdue University Calumet and Ivy Tech Community College. He has worked as an instructor at Dave Griffins baseball / softball school for nine years. He is a Steel Maker at ArcelorMittal Steel in East Chicago, Indiana. He and His wife Samantha live in Crown Point, Indiana with their son Michael.

Jon Sojka - Assistant Coach - 1st Season
Coach Jon Sojka enters his first year with Indiana University Northwest as an assistant coach. Coach Jon Sojka will have the duties of coaching the outfielders, hitting and base running. Jon played for head coach Dan Soria in 2007 at Calumet College of Saint Joseph. While at Calumet College Jon ended the season in the top ten of NAIA for base stealing and was the Crimson Wave's Rookie of the Year.
 

Coach Jon Sojka graduated from Clark High School in Hammond IN were in 2003 he set the single season hits record and single season batting average record. Also in 2003 Jon was All-Conference 1st team (leading vote getter in the conference), All-Area 2nd team, All-State Honorable Mention
