Perseverance and commitment define Lady RedHawks Basketball and no one better demonstrates those qualities than three-year letter winner and team captain Erica Baran. The RedHawks' senior appeared in 29 games as a junior and averaged 1.7 points per game in 2009-10. Erica dropped a career high 12 points on Mount Mary on 12/11/2009 and hauled in a career-high 9 boards as a sophomore in a win over Andrews 1/13/2009. As a freshman, Baran started 22 of 24 games and was named the Lady RedHawks Most Improved Player that season. That same season Erica was named to the 2007 Judson University All-Tournament Team. This past year Erica was the recipient of the RedHawk Award given annually to the student-athlete who best represents team goals. Additionally, she was chosen to receive the NAIA's Champion of Character Award at the 2010 National Tournament becoming the first IU Northwest student-athlete to receive the award. As a prep, Erica starred in volleyball, basketball and softball while at Hammond Morton High School. Erica is majoring in nursing.
