KANSAS CITY, Mo. - (Complete Bracket PDF) (Press Book PDF) The 19th Annual State Farm-NAIA Division II Women's Basketball National Championship opens on Wednesday, as thirty-two teams will travel to Sioux City, Iowa, to play out 31 games over the course of six days and in the end, one will go home with a national title. For the 13th year, the Tyson Events Center/Gateway Arena will play host to the event. Tickets can be purchased by calling (712) 279-4850.

A.I.I. Release - Indiana University Northwest RedHawks forward Sharon Houston (Merrillville) and head coach Ryan Shelton have been named the NAIA Association of Independent Institutions Division II Women's Basketball Player and Coach of the Year, respectively, the conference office announced on Thursday morning. The conference also released the 2010 All-Conference team.

Where did you grow up?

Kym Daniels: Hessville in Hammond.

When did you start playing basketball?

KD: I started playing basketball when I was in fifth grade.

Amanda Pennington and Megan Leal are wrapping up their very first season on the RedHawks basketball team. They sat down with me to reflect on the past season and talk about how it differs from high school sports.

When did you start playing basketball?

Megan Leal: I started playing when I was about five. I went to see my cousin play basketball. She was on travel team.

Amanda Pennington: When I was younger, I don't know what age I was.

Does anything set basketball apart from other sports?

ML: It's more of a team sport. You rely more on your teammates. You have to count on somebody to guard their man.
