5-11 Swingman Completes 2010 Recruiting Class
Former Kankakee Valley standout Marissa Butler has committed to Indiana University Northwest Women's Basketball for the 2010-11 academic year and basketball season. Butler starred in both soccer and basketball while at KV earning Times All-Area and All-Northwest Crossroads Conference honors in both sports. As a senior the 5'11 Forward averaged 10.5 pts, 5.5 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 2.5 steals, 1.3 blocks and shot 30% from 3-point range for the 13-9 Kougars. She scored a career high 28 points on Jan. 12 in a win over Hebron. She also poured in 21 points and added 5 rebounds and 4 assists in a close 51-49 loss to No. 4 ranked Boone Grove.

Women's basketball open gyms will begin Friday April 23, 2010
Women's basketball open gyms will begin Tuesday, May 11 and will continue each week as dictated by the schedule below. Recently graduated high school seniors are not permitted to attend until the conclusion of their school year.

RedHawks Add Scoring Guard to Strong Recruiting Class
Brianne Wischman of Portage High School has agreed to continue her education and basketball career at IU Northwest beginning in the Fall 2010. Her decision was announced at a signing at Portage High School on Thursday afternoon, April 1. The 5'4" shooting guard from Portage averaged 11.8 points per game, 3.2 rebounds, 2.3 assists this past season and helped lead the class 4A Indians to a 12-10 overall record.

On March 9, 2010 IU Northwest junior forward Erica Baran was announced one of 32 national recipients of the NAIA Division II Champions of Character Award. The Champions of Character Awards are announced annually at the banquet that precedes the national tournament as each team selects one member that displays and embraces the true character values of the NAIA and each of their respective teams. Erica is the first and only recipient of this award in IU Northwest's history.

Fresh off their best season in the program's history, the Indiana University Northwest Lady RedHawks added to their already-impressive 2010 recruiting class on Monday with the signing of Hebron High School senior Kara Cunningham, who signed her letter of intent at the IU Northwest Savannah Center.
