The 2010-11 Athletic season is HERE and we kick it off on Wednesday August 25th with not one but TWO volleyball Matches!! Match one has the Hawks hosting Marygrove College at 11am to kick off the tri-match day and they also will host the final match of the day at 3pm when they play Robert Morris-Springfield! Players signed for 2010-11 season include KV's Newcomb, Rensselaer's Hayes, and JUCO transfer Annalisha Turner

 
The volleyball team at Indiana University Northwest will be taller and tougher next season, according to head coach Omar Vazquez. The recent addition of eight local players for 2010-11 has the coach planning strategy around a strong group of hitters and defensive specialists, with a few standout setters on board to set the table for the playmakers.

The IU Northwest volleyball team's first time competing in the AII (Association of Independent Institutions) tournament ends early after two consecutive losses.
The RedHawks dropped the first game to Walla Walla College by a match score of 3-1. After the loss, they were moved to the Loser Bracket to square off against Southwestern College. They were swept in 3 matches.

Kelsey Barrick (freshman, no. 11) and Malory Rokosz (freshman, no. 8) have become good friends this year. Barrick is a Defensive Specialist majoring in Sports Medicine. Rokosz is an Outside Hitter majoring in Business Administration with a concentration in marketing. They sat down with me for a discussion about volleyball, academics and movies.
